Following the closure of the Post Office in Helmsley some months ago, it was announced on the 11th August that the Black Swan would host a temporary Post Office whilst a permanent replacement is sought.
Thirsk and Malton MP, Kevin Hollinrake and Cllr George Jabbour, the councillor for Helmsley and Sinnington Division, have fought long and hard for a provision to be put in place for the residents of Helmsley and the surrounding area.
Kevin said:" I visited the Black Swan along with Cllr Jabbour and Mark Gibson. It's great to see the temporary post office ready to go - thank you to the Black Swan and to George and Mark for helping to deliver the solution. Cllr Jabbour and I are very grateful to the Black Swan for the vital service they are providing to the community in hosting postal services in the town.Long term, we are still seeking a permanent replacement, but for the moment, this is certainly welcome news for Helmsley residents."
