As Christmas approaches and 2017 draws to an end we would like to thank you, our members, for your support throughout the past year and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Looking forward to 2018 we have a couple of fundraising events already in the pipeline including:
- Business Club Lunch @ The White Swan Pickering | Friday 12th January | Speaker: Gordon Gibbs, Flamingoland
- Filey Supper Club Supper @ Charlotte’s in Filey| Friday 26th January | Details tba
- Easingwold Branch Supper @ Easingwold Golf Club | Friday 2nd March | Guest Speaker Ben Houchen, Tees Valley Mayor (Some of you will remember that Ben was in the final 4 at our Parliamentary Candidate selection meeting in 2014).
We do hope that you will be able to support these and our other forthcoming events – full details can be found on our website, our Facebook page or by contacting the office directly.
Meanwhile, on the political front in 2018, we are not expecting another General Election (?!) but will be approving and selecting candidates in readiness for the District Elections in 2019. We are hoping to put candidates in all 45 seats and are therefore still on the lookout for suitable candidates – if you or anyone you know may be interested, please contact us at the office and we can tell you a little bit more about the process. Our Deputy Chairman, Keane Duncan, will be in touch soon with regard to an informal briefing and information evening which we will be holding for all those interested in standing as well as incumbents early in the new year.
The Thirsk and Malton Conservative Policy Forum Group has gone from strength to strength over the past year under the superb chairmanship of Bob Gardiner. The next meeting will be on February 27th 2018 when the paper for discussion will be Jobs and Skills.
The Association AGM will be held in March, the exact date and venue is yet to be confirmed– and a reminder to all branches that Branch AGMs must be held in February/March please as well.
A very big thank you again to you all for your support in what we can quite honestly say has been THE most eventful year (!) and we look forward to being in touch again in the New Year.
Melanie and Gilly
PS Please note the office will be closed over the festive period from 5pm Thursday 21st December 2017 until 9.30am Tuesday 2nd January 2018
