We are deeply saddened to announce that our Chairman Linda Folwell has passed away following a short illness. Linda has held the position of Chairman for over two years, was Deputy Chairman before that and her involvement with local branches goes back over 25 years. Paying tribute to Linda, our President Kenelm Storey said that he, his fellow officers and all Association members were deeply saddened by Linda’s untimely death. “Linda has been a stalwart of this Association over very many years and we are immensely grateful to her for everything she has done for the Conservative Party in this constituency, and also more widely across the North Yorkshire region. Our thoughts and prayers of course are with her family and all her many friends – among whom we feel fortunate to count ourselves. She will be very sadly missed. Hers will be difficult shoes to fill.”
Kevin Hollinrake MP said: “I am devastated to hear that Linda Folwell has passed away. In every capacity, in every role she played - friend, fellow member and colleague - she was a truly wonderful person. She combined boundless energy, a sunny disposition, selflessness, wisdom, compassion and humour. She was always there for me, and for anyone in need, and was a constant source of support and sage advice.”
A Justgiving page has been set up in Linda's memory, raising funds for the Marie Curie nurses who looked after her in her last few days. If you would like to donate here is the link:
